Arsenaal/Lazarus set up 'The Life of Mechelen' in 2017, an urban project that revolved around locals and their life stories, whereby each intervention dealt with a particular life stage. Final Goodbyes, for which Barbara Raes created unique ‘Lifers’ rituals, was the subject of the 5th and last edition. Each ritual was performed in an intimate circle and filmed by Mirjam Devriendt. That video footage was shown to a wide audience in May 2022 and a discussion was held on caring for each other and how the arts can help us bid farewell.
